Writing Through Christmas
As a romance author with a day job it means it's the time of year to figure out how I fit a multitude of tasks into a short number of hours.
Christmas is two weeks away. There’s food to buy, Christmas shopping to do, gifts to wrap and deadlines whooshing towards me. Oh yeah, then the small imposition of a day job, demanding I go every day.
The question is how do you prioritise so many tasks into such a small amount of time? Take tomorrow for example; Sunday is usually a writing day for me, but because it’s only two weeks until Christmas my writing day has morphed into a Christmas shopping day. I’m trying to figure out how to get everything completed but mostly it’s a chaotic mess of doing what I can, when I can.
The release of my first story River’s Heart has been pushed back twice now. First because of other deadlines then because I started a new job. I’m desperate to release the introduction to The Shadow Coven series and I’d like to do it by the end of the year so that at the start of 2019 I can get to work on the other books of the series.
The next two weeks promise to be hectic, but I love Christmas so I can’t begrudge the time too much and I’m spending New Year in a country cabin which affords me plenty of writing time. I guess the only question that remains is do I have a mint hot chocolate or a gingerbread latte while I’m shopping tomorrow?
I know Christmas is a busy time for everyone, but don’t forget to have fun. I hope you have a very merry Christmas, and a festive period that is filled with everything you could wish for.
