Resolution Time
The year is drawing to a close which means it’s inevitably time to start thinking about New Year Resolutions.
As a struggling romance author, I am constantly seeking out advice on how to establish myself as a writer and one suggestion that comes up often is to treat writing like a business. It’s a sensible idea. After all it is my chosen career and whenever you pursue any advancement in your work life it takes dedication, time and energy. Writing is no different.
This is my resolution for the next year. To treat writing as my business, because that’s exactly what it is. That means being organised, efficient, devoted, tenacious. It means prioritising writing, even when I think I don’t have time.
It means sitting at my computer, getting words down. It means reading, because how can I be a writer if I don’t read. It means calling writing my job. My work. My career.
I am a writer. I will write.
